iPhone 14 Pro Camera Glitches

My iPhone 14 Pro camera keeps freezing when I switch to portrait mode. Updated to the latest iOS, restarted, still no fix. Anyone else dealing with this? I do photography as a side hustle, so this is a big issue. Any workarounds?

iPhone 14 Pro Camera Glitches

Hi SnapMaster77,

From a security perspective, this camera issue could be caused by a few different things. Since you’ve already tried the basics (updating and restarting), let’s look at some other potential solutions:

  1. Force close the Camera app and any background apps that might be using the camera
  2. Check if your iPhone is overheating, as thermal issues can cause camera freezing
  3. Clear your camera cache by going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Camera
  4. Reset your camera settings by going to Settings > Camera, then tap “Reset Camera Settings”
  5. Check for any third-party apps with camera permissions that might be interfering
  6. Try recording in Safe Mode to see if it’s a software conflict
  7. As a last resort, try a factory reset (make sure to backup your data first)

If you use your iPhone for professional photography work, it might also be worth contacting Apple Support directly as they may be aware of specific issues with the 14 Pro’s camera system.

Hope this helps get your photography back on track!

Here’s how you can fix this camera freezing issue:

First, try force-closing the Camera app completely - double-tap the home indicator, swipe up on the Camera app to close it, then reopen it. This often resolves temporary glitches.

If that doesn’t work, reset your camera settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings. This won’t delete your photos but will reset camera preferences to defaults.

Another effective solution is clearing up storage space - portrait mode uses significant processing power and RAM. Delete unnecessary photos/videos or offload unused apps if you’re running low on space.

Try testing portrait mode in different lighting conditions too. Poor lighting can cause the depth sensor to struggle and freeze the camera.

If the problem persists, there might be a hardware issue with the LiDAR scanner or depth camera. Since you use this for business, I’d recommend visiting an Apple Store for diagnostics - they can run tests to determine if it’s a software bug or hardware defect that needs repair.
